Over two years ago, I changed CJ’s diet to a Gluten-free, Casein-free, Dye-free diet (aka GFCF or “Autism Diet”). It has been one of the best things thus far for him! It initially began when I was having intestinal issues and discovered that I have dairy and gluten allergies and intolerances. After a lot of research, reading, and doctors visits, I found out that CJ has similar food issues.
After beginning the GFCF diet, CJ’s bloated belly went away. He was more regular with bowel movements. He was happier. He was calmer. His stimming decreased. He was a different kid!
I know each and every child with autism is beautifully unique in his or her own way and reacts differently to different things. What a huge change this has made for my CJ and other children I have personally witnessed make drastic improvements after eliminating dairy, gluten, and dyes from their diets. I know it seems “impossible” to do, but if this pizza-loving, chicken wing-craving, everything fried and covered in chocolate mama can do, believe me…so can YOU! It has made a HUGE difference for the better in my kiddos’ and my health and well-being!! I only wish we would have done it sooner!!
