This simple craft allows itself fine-motor practice while focusing on the letter “a.”
You will need: clothespin, eyes, green and red markers, glue, and green pipe cleaners.
1. Using the green marker, color the clothespin green (everywhere except the mouth). Then using the red marker, color the mouth red.
2. Glue eyeballs on the top of its face.
3. Twist green pipe cleaners around the top of the body.
4. You now have yourself a friendly alligator. Practice the letter, “a” and its corresponding sounds. Be sure to explain and/or review the long and short sounds for the letter, “a.” See how many words you and your child(ren) can come up with containing short a sounds. Then do the same with long a sounds. Happy practicing with your new friend the alligator!
